Certificate Program

METALCON, the metal construction industry’s global event for metal construction products, technologies, and solutions, has announced its new safety certificate program, METALFOCUS®, in partnership with SafetyWorks®, Inc. Craig Schaffer, president of SafetyWorks, teaches the program, which is a series of ten hour-long virtual safety courses tailored to supervisors, foremen, crews, and others in the industry. Schaffer is a certified safety professional with more than 30 years of occupational safety and health experience in the construction and manufacturing industries, and an authorized instructor for construction OSHA-10 and OSHA-30 courses.

METALFOCUS presents the latest metal safety rules, tools, trends, and techniques to avoid costly or potentially fatal accidents. It goes beyond traditional OSHA-10 safety training and address situations unique to metal construction jobsites. Courses focus on increasing safety, reducing jobsite risks, and lowering the risk of regulatory penalties. The courses include the following: OSHA’s Steel Erection Standard, 29 CFR 1926 Subpart R; Fall Protection Planning; Hot Work and Permits; Rigging Safety Considerations, not a rigging certification class; Crane Ops ad Lift Planning; Supervisor Safety Responsibilities; Project Safety Planning; Job Safety Analysis; Incident Reporting and Investigation; and Managing OSHA Inspections.

Registration fees begin at $30 per class, including training materials, with discounts available for multiple class and group registrations. All courses will be available both live with real-time questions and answers, as well as on-demand. Participants receive a certificate of completion for each course completed. Those who complete the entire ten-course program will receive special recognition on the METALCON website and at METALCON 2021 in Tampa, Florida, on October 6-8.

METALCON is the largest international event in the metal construction industry. Established in 1991, it’s the only annual trade show and conference devoted exclusively to the application of metal in design and construction. Designers, builders, developers, contractors, fabricators, and suppliers from more than 50 countries attend each year. Industry experts from 275 leading companies exhibit the latest products, solutions, and game-changing technologies, while sharing their knowledge with attendees. METALCON’s success is based on a dynamic exhibit hall, extensive educational programs, and interactive learning opportunities.
