Nestled at the water’s edge on Lake Tahoe’s south shore, the Edgewood Tahoe Resort in Stateline, Nevada, is a cherished gathering place that welcomes all to enjoy its unique brand of scenic natural beauty and genuine hospitality. More than an alpine lodge, the Edgewood has crafted a new beginning in a storied setting where casual comfort effortlessly blends with classic refinement. The 235-acre, LEED®-certified lakefront resort boasts 154 luxury guest rooms and suites with 14 Lakeview Villa Suites, an 18-hole championship golf course, 8,500 sq.ft. spa, salon, three acclaimed restaurants, a 3,000 sq.ft. ballroom, premium shopping, and much more.
Recently partnering with an international organization, Beyond Green, Edgewood Tahoe is centered by its mission to be “stewards of the land, guardians of the lake, and solid corporate citizens of the communities in which we operate.” The award-winning property earned the Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star Rating for 2024 for both its spa and resort. Serving as an escape for guests seeking the best of both worlds, Edgewood Tahoe is an authentic, elevated experience coupled with the magnificence of the country’s most stunning natural surroundings.

The clubhouse roof, which had been installed less than ten years ago, began to show significant signs of degradation. Over time, the slate tiles had deteriorated due to the area’s harsh freeze-thaw cycles, resulting in seasonal damage, frequent repairs, and increasing maintenance costs. While there were not many leaks, a lot of debris was coming off the roof and the tiles were sliding off. To ensure that the roof was fixed up and put into a state more suited for a classy resort like the Edgewood, it was time to call in the experts.
Sierra Singly Ply Roofing, out of Sacramento, California, is well versed in installing roofs that can deal with Tahoe’s fluctuating weather. Their teams are well equipped to deliver high-performance commercial roofing solutions with integrity, precision, and long-term value. Their Reno, Nevada, office is only and hour away from the Edgewood, which made it easy for them to reach the resort and install a sturdier roof.

After discussions with the owner of the Edgewood, it was decided that the reroof would need something special for both aesthetics and resilience against the weather. That is why Sierra Single Ply Roofing and the owner agreed that they should use PABCO® Cascade® diamond shaped asphalt shingles in the pewter gray color.
“The owner specifically liked the look of the diamond-shaped shingles available from PABCO,” said Ward Howes, Owner and CFO of Sierra Single Ply Roofing. “They also wanted consistency with their roofs, as other buildings on the property had previously used PABCO Cascade, creating a unified aesthetic.”
The project involved a reroof of the clubhouse and a remodel of the interior of the clubhouse. The reroof did present a few unique challenges, and the roofers had to be careful navigating the loose tiles and ongoing debris removal, particularly after winter seasons.

“Working in unfavorable weather conditions was tough but the most challenging part of this project was working while the restaurant was in business,” said Howes. “We had to work while the restaurant was open to get the job done in a timely manner. This required a lot of careful work, and we had to be extra wary as curious customers were interested in the project.”
Luckily, the team from Sierra Single Ply Roofing was able to handle both the reroof and the extra customer scrutiny. The resulting roof is stunning, dependable, and built to last. The new PABCO Cascade roof not only improved the functionality but also enhanced the property’s curb appeal, creating a beautiful new look with mountain backdrops in the distance.
