National Roofing, a roofing and waterproofing contractor headquartered in Albuquerque, New Mexico, has donated books to Busy Bees Child Care Center. National Roofing completed a tear off and reroof at the Busy Bees Child Care Center, and the children loved seeing the roofing contractors in action throughout the process. Tracey Gossett focuses on customer relations within National Roofing’s Business Development Team, and she saw an opportunity to bring joy to the children and teachers at Busy Bees. Each time she would visit the project, the manager would mention to her how much the kids loved seeing the National Roofing employees every day. Upon hearing this, Gossett decided it would be a great idea to throw the children and party and donate books to the child care center.
With hard hats, vests, and cookies, Gossett handed out copies of the NRCA’s book Is This a Roof? to show children that roofing can be a pathway to success. National Roofing’s project manager, Andres Hernandez, and his team made an appearance at the party, letting the children ask questions about roofing. The party was a great success full of smiling faces and gratitude from the Busy Bees.
Is This a Roof? is a children’s book for the roofing industry distributed by the NRCA in hopes to elevate roofing into the consciousness of young readers. Employers in the roofing industry are experiencing a shortage of workers despite opportunities for growth. Research shows by raising awareness of the roofing trade in children, they become more likely to consider roofing as a viable career alternative in the future.
